What’s new? Autumn Edition 2014 (CD)
As I've promised in this post you'll find the information about upcoming CD releases! I'm SO excited about these albums, so I don't want to talk too much about my feelings here, I'm just gonna show you everything straight away!
September 1 – Joyce DiDonato «Stella di Napoli» by Warner Classics
On «Stella di Napoli» (Star of Naples) the American mezzo-soprano breathes new life into little-known arias by Mercadante, Michele Carafa, Carlo Valentini and the opera composer Giovanni Pacini, whose «Stella di Napoli» gives the album its title. Also Joyce presents a sumptuous Bel Canto banquet with music by Bellini, Rossini and Donizetti, including «Maria Stuarda».
September 2 – Dmitri Hvorostovsky «The bells of dawn. Russian sacred and folk songs» by Ondine
The Russian baritone has recorded his new CD with sacred works of Russian composers and Russian folk songs.
September 2 – Alice Coote «Handel Arias» by Hyperion
Alice Coote performs a selection of Handel’s greatest arias from pieces like «Alcina», «Ariodante», «Radamisto», «Giulio Cesare in Egitto», «Hercules».
September 15 – Elina Garanca «Meditation» by Deutsche Grammophon
Elīna presents a beautiful selection of spiritual music which includes sacred works by W. Gomez, G. Caccini, G. Puccini, G. Bizet, P. Mascagni etc.
September 16 – Jonas Kaufmann «You mean the world to me» by Sony
Jonas dedicates his new album to the golden era of German music which flourished in Berlin between 1925 & 1935. The repertoire draws from 3 strands of musical history: talking movies, operetta and polystylistic composers.
September 23 – Jonas Kaufmann «50 great arias» by Decca
The amazing compilation of arias from four Jonas’ CDs: «Romantic Arias», «Wagner», «Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven & Wagner», «Verismo Arias».
September 29 – Patricia Petibon «La belle excentrique» by Deutsche Grammophon
Soprano Patricia Petibon returns to French repertoire, exploring the fascinating world of French art song in her new album. The CD features all-time favourites by Satie, Fauré, Poulenc, Reynaldo Hahn, Manuel Rosenthal, but also popular hits by Léo Ferré.
October 6 – Placido Domingo «Encanto del Mar - Mediterranean Songs» by Sony
In this recording Placido Domingo shows us the exciting world of mediterranean songs of Italy, Spain, France, Cyprus and other south European countries.
October 6 – Renee Fleming «Christmas in New York» by Decca
American soprano’s first-ever holiday album celebrates the beloved and iconic Christmas season in New York City. Renee Fleming’s elegant persona along with the intimate arrangements of holiday classics makes this album perfect for holiday parties and as a treasured holiday gift.
October 13 – Cecilia Bartoli «St. Petersburg» by Decca
Cecilia Bartoli presents us the hidden treasures of the Mariinsky theatre in her new album. The CD consists of the Baroque pieces from the court of three 18th century Tsaristas: Anna, Elizabeth and Catherine the Great. And there are even two arias which Cecilia sings in Russian!
